OPTIMATION OL2252 High Speed Counter Module

Module Feature

OPTIMATION OL2252 belongs to OptiLogic series dual channel high-speed pulse counter module. It contains two independent pulse counting channels with maximum input frequency up to 15kHz. Besides two counter channels, it is equipped with 8 multi-function digital input terminals, can be configured as hardware reset, hardware enable or general-purpose discrete input. Each channel supports software reset and hardware reset function. Opto-coupler galvanic isolation for all input circuits, input voltage 10~30VDC. Per-channel front panel LED status indicator, removable screw terminal block. Standard OptiLogic form factor, hot-plug compatible with OL4054, OL4058, OL4228 RTU racks. Widely used for flow meters, incremental encoders, pulse type sensors in semiconductor wet bench and chemical delivery control systems.

Working principle: Pulse signal from field sensor enters opto-isolation circuit, then high-speed counter circuit captures pulse number and frequency. Hardware reset / enable inputs can control counter start and clear operation. Counting value is transmitted to RTU mainboard via backplane bus for host PLC reading. Optical isolation separates field side and control backplane bus to suppress ground loop noise. Function

OL2252 high speed counter module manufactured by OPTIMATION. It acquires pulse signals from flow meters and incremental encoders. Improper signal wiring or over-frequency input will lead to counting error. It is high-speed pulse signal acquisition component for wet process automation control rack.

Installation

Follow lockout/tagout safety procedure before installation. Power off OptiLogic RTU rack. Insert module into empty rack slot and lock latches. Wire pulse sensor and multi-function input wiring to removable terminal block, configure terminal function via OL System Builder. Test counting accuracy before production startup.

Diagnostic

Count value loss:Input pulse frequency exceeds 15kHz limit or signal attenuation. Hardware reset no response:Reset input wiring fault. Intermittent counting error:Ground loop interference without optical isolation. Module not detected:Poor backplane edge connector contact.
