Carrier 30GX680022 Chiller Starter Unit

Module Feature

30GX680022 is the wye-delta starter assembly for Carrier centrifugal chiller.

It realizes soft start for chiller compressor by switching star and delta connection, reduces starting inrush current. It integrates contactors, thermal protection and control circuit, widely used in commercial and industrial chilled water system.

Working principle

At start-up, the contactor connects motor winding in star configuration to lower voltage.

After preset delay, the circuit switches to delta connection for full voltage operation. It provides overload and phase loss protection for compressor motor.

Onboard components

Main contactors, thermal overload relay, control transformer, auxiliary relay, wiring terminal block.

LED indicators

Front LEDs display power status, run state and fault alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Thermal relay and auxiliary contacts detect overload, phase failure and contact anomaly, fault signal is sent to chiller controller.

Programming software

Carrier Chiller Service Tool, used for chiller system commissioning and fault checking.

Installation

Disconnect main power before installation, fix assembly inside chiller control cabinet.

Wire main power, compressor motor cable and control signal according to schematic. Test start sequence and protection trip function before commissioning.

Diagnostic

Fail to switch to delta: Damaged delta contactor or wrong time delay setting.
