OPTIMATION OL2602 Serial Communication Module

Module Feature

OPTIMATION OL2602 belongs to OptiLogic series dual RS232 communication module. It provides two independent RS232C serial ports to connect serial instruments, HMI and analyzers to OptiLogic RTU rack. Each channel supports configurable baud rate, parity and data bits. Standard OptiLogic form factor, pluggable into OL4228 and other OptiLogic rack slots. Widely used in semiconductor wet bench and chemical delivery control systems.

Working principle: The module converts backplane bus data into RS232 serial protocol and communicates with external serial devices. It receives serial data from field instruments and transmits information to the RTU main controller via internal rack backplane. Onboard components: Dual UART communication chip, signal isolation circuit, surge protection PCB, two DB9 serial connectors, backplane edge connector, front panel status LEDs

Function

OL2602 dual RS232 serial module manufactured by OPTIMATION. It expands serial communication ports for OptiLogic rack to communicate with legacy serial field equipment. Incorrect serial parameters or cable damage will lead to communication timeout or garbled data. It is serial expansion component for wet process automation control cabinet.

Installation

Follow lockout/tagout safety procedure before installation. Power off OptiLogic RTU rack. Insert module into empty rack slot and lock mounting latches. Connect DB9 serial cables to field devices. Configure serial parameters and test TX/RX communication before production startup.

Diagnostic

No serial data: Baud rate / parity mismatch or wiring fault. Garbled characters: Noise interference or incorrect communication settings. No TX/RX light: Module backplane contact poor. Intermittent communication: Loose DB9 connector.
