Module Feature

HIEE300308R1 is the PMA323BE processor module of ABB Freelance AC 900F distributed control system.

It is a hot-swappable CPU board responsible for running continuous control programs, sequence logic, alarm management and data exchange with I/O modules and upper monitoring stations. It supports redundant configuration for bumpless switchover, integrates multiple communication interfaces and works with Freelance engineering software. It is widely used in power plants, chemical plants and water treatment process control systems for spare replacement and cabinet retrofitting.

Working principle

The module reads field data from backplane I/O bus periodically.

It executes configured PID, interlock and sequence control algorithms, generates output commands to drive field actuators. It stores event logs and alarm records locally, and transmits real-time data to operator stations via Ethernet. When redundancy is enabled, it synchronizes runtime data with the standby controller continuously.

Onboard components

Main CPU chip, flash and RAM memory, backplane high-density connector, communication transceiver chips, status LED array, temperature monitoring circuit.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power status, run mode, active/standby state and communication fault alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in self-supervision detects power supply deviation, memory error, backplane communication failure and internal temperature over-limit. Fault information and event records can be checked via Freelance engineering tool.

Programming software

ABB Freelance Engineering Tool, used for control logic programming, parameter downloading, online monitoring and fault log review.

Installation

Cut off cabinet power supply before replacement, insert the module into the designated slot and lock the buckle.

Connect backplane bus and network cable, download control program and verify communication and redundancy function before commissioning.

Diagnostic
