Vivax-Metrotech LOC-150TX Pipeline Transmitter Unit

Module Feature

LOC-150TX is 150-watt DM signal transmitter developed by Vivax-Metrotech.

It is matched with Defect Mapper receiver for long-distance buried metal pipeline inspection. It only supports direct connection mode without induction or clamp mode, selectable output frequency from 98Hz to 640Hz. It can be powered by cathodic protection rectifier, AC mains or external DC battery, widely used for oil & gas long pipeline coating defect detection, ACVG and current gradient survey.

Working principle

The transmitter injects stable low-frequency AC signal onto the target pipeline.

When the pipeline insulation coating has damage, the signal leaks to soil at the defect point. Cooperated with DM receiver, technicians can pinpoint the coating fault position and evaluate defect severity. It continuously monitors output voltage, current and internal temperature.

Onboard components

Power drive module, signal generation circuit, dot matrix display panel, rotary control knobs, protection circuit, input/output terminal socket.

LED indicators

Front LEDs display power, output status, overvoltage, overtemperature and overload alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in monitoring circuit detects overvoltage, over-temperature, over-power and open load condition, alarm information is shown on local display.

Programming software

Vivax-Metrotech Utility Survey Software, used for survey data recording and post-processing.

Installation

Connect the output leads between transmitter, pipeline and ground stake.

Select proper working frequency and adjust output level, verify signal injection quality before survey. Check CP isolation and ensure no interference from adjacent pipelines.

Interface

Direct connect output terminals, AC/DC power input port.

Diagnostic

No signal output: Wrong wiring connection, over-temperature protection triggered.

Output unstable: Poor ground stake contact or pipeline high impedance.

Overpower alarm: Serious pipeline short fault or improper load condition.
