Module Feature

4098-5288 is Simplex TrueAlarm analog addressable detector base for fire alarm loop.

It is designed to mate with 4098 series photoelectric smoke, heat and combined multi-sensor heads. It adopts two-wire IDNet communication bus, transmits analog sensor data and status signal back to Simplex fire control panel. Reserved remote indicator wiring terminals for external alarm LED. Built-in terminal blocks for loop wiring, simple twist-lock sensor installation. It supports trouble supervision for sensor missing and wiring fault. Widely stocked as maintenance spare for building, factory and data center fire alarm system.

Working principle

The base receives loop power and digital communication signal from fire panel via IDNet bus.

It supplies power to mounted sensor head and forwards sensor analog value, alarm and fault data to fire controller. When sensor triggers fire alarm, base outputs drive signal for remote LED indicator. The base continuously checks whether the detector head is installed properly and monitors line integrity.

Onboard components

Base main circuit board, IDNet communication chip, sensor locking mechanism, wiring terminal block, remote LED output terminals, mounting bracket and plastic enclosure.

LED indicators

Sensor head carries local alarm LED; remote indicator signal is provided by base external terminals.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Fire panel executes supervision for missing detector, open/short circuit of loop, communication loss. Configuration and device status browsing are completed by Simplex FireWorks software.

Installation

Isolate fire loop power before replacement.

Fix base to ceiling junction box, connect IDNet bus with correct polarity, install sensor head, set device address, test communication and alarm feedback after commissioning.

Interface

IDNet two-wire loop terminals, remote LED indicator terminals, detector head twist-lock interface.

Diagnostic

Trouble fault: Loop polarity reversed, wire short/open, sensor not locked. No alarm feedback: Communication address duplicate, panel device configuration missing. Remote LED not light: External indicator wiring break.
