Module Feature

PRE563RRU5 is a Rotork PRE series factory coded quarter-turn electric actuator.

It is designed for on-off control of ball valves, butterfly valves and plug valves. It integrates torque sensing, open/close limit switches, local handwheel override, local selector switch (Local/Remote/Stop), 4-20mA position feedback option and heater for anti-condensation. The enclosure is weatherproof IP67, available with hazardous area certification. It supports remote DCS dry contact command or analog control. Widely stocked as maintenance spare for pipeline skid, water treatment and refinery valve cabinets.

Working principle

When receiving open or close command, the motor drives reduction gear train to rotate output shaft. Torque sensor monitors output torque; once over-torque occurs, power cuts off immediately for valve and actuator protection. Limit switches stop motor when reaching fully open or fully closed position. Position transmitter converts shaft angle into 4-20mA signal and sends valve position to DCS. Handwheel can be used for manual operation during power loss.

Onboard components

Induction motor, multi-stage worm gear reducer, torque sensing assembly, open/close limit switch bank, handwheel mechanism, local control HMI, position transmitter, space heater, terminal block and cast aluminum enclosure.

LED indicators

Local indicator LEDs for Open, Close, Fault and Remote status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects over-torque, motor overheat, limit switch fault and internal wiring failure. Parameter setting and fault download are completed by Rotork Insight software.

Programming software

Rotork Insight, used for torque setting, limit calibration, feedback range setup and fault log reading.

Installation

Isolate actuator power before replacement. Align ISO flange, set open/close limit and torque value, test local handwheel, remote command and position feedback signal after commissioning.

Power terminals, DI control terminals, DO status/torque fault terminals, 4-20mA position feedback terminal, ISO valve drive flange.

Diagnostic

Over-torque trip: Valve stuck, incorrect torque setting. No movement: Control power missing, interlock locked, motor burnout. Position feedback error: Transmitter drift, calibration lost.
