System compatibilityX460-G2-VIM-2ss VIM module works exclusively with Extreme Networks X460-G2 series switches. It installs into the rear VIM expansion slot of X460-G2 to add dedicated SummitStack stacking ports. Up to 8 X460-G2 switches can be stacked together using this module and CX4 stacking cables.

FunctionX460-G2-VIM-2ss is an optional rear stacking expansion module for X460-G2 switches. It provides two CX4 SummitStack ports to build high-speed switch stacking fabric. Stacked units act as one single logical switch, sharing configuration, MAC address table and routing table. It monitors stacking link status and module temperature, and triggers fault alarms for stacking link down or module overheat. Widely used for large campus access switch stacking deployment.

InstallationPower off the X460-G2 switch. Insert VIM-2ss module into rear VIM slot and fasten screws. Connect CX4 stacking cables between modules of different switches.
