System compatibilitySummit X650 runs ExtremeXOS operating system. It supports SummitStack stacking, up to 8 units stacked as one logical switch. Compatible with Extreme X440, X670, VSP series. FunctionSummit X650 is high-performance top-of-rack switch for data center server access. It performs Layer2 switching, Layer3 IPv4/IPv6 routing, VLAN, STP/RSTP, link aggregation, ACL and QoS. It supports hardware-based 10G packet forwarding and stacking for port scaling. It monitors port link status, transceiver optical power, fan speed, temperature and power supply status, triggers alarm for port down, over-temperature, power failure and optical signal loss. It is used to replace failed ToR switches in virtualized data center networks.

InstallationPower off before installation. Mount the switch into standard 19-inch rack. Install SFP+ transceivers and VIM1 module into slots. Connect fiber/copper cables, power cords, console and management port. Boot ExtremeXOS, configure VLAN, routing and stacking parameters. Verify port status and network traffic before putting into production.
