System compatibility8900-MSM128 is the main management module for Extreme BlackDiamond 8900 chassis core switch. It can be installed in pairs for redundant control plane. Compatible with all BD8900 line cards. Works with ExtremeXOS operating system. Widely used for campus core and enterprise backbone network spare replacement.

Function8900-MSM128 serves as the control and management core of BlackDiamond 8900 chassis switch. It processes L2/L2 switching, routing protocols, system configuration, port monitoring, QoS, ACL and fabric management. It supports CLEAR-Flow traffic monitoring function. It continuously monitors power supplies, fan trays, line card status and internal temperature. It supports hitless failover when dual MSMs are deployed. Used to replace faulty management modules for BD8900 core chassis.

InstallationPower off chassis before installation. Insert 8900-MSM128 into the MSM slot of BlackDiamond 8900 chassis. Fasten the retaining screws. Connect console cable and out-of-band management cable. Power on chassis, verify module boot and ExtremeXOS recognition. Confirm fabric initialization and redundancy status before putting into production.
