Bosch BRS-RAC2-8200A Video Recording Station

Module Feature

BRS-RAC2-8200A is the 2U rackmount recording appliance of Bosch BRS series.

It comes with pre-installed BRS recording software, supports up to 8 IP cameras, built-in RAID5 for data redundancy. It accepts H.264, MPEG4 and JPEG video streams, and supports local live view, playback and remote client access. This obsolete model is widely used for old security surveillance system maintenance.

Working principle

The appliance receives IP video stream from network cameras via Ethernet.

Video data is encoded and saved to internal hard disks. It handles timeline playback, motion search and user permission management, and uploads video data to remote viewing clients over network.

Onboard components

Industrial mainboard, hard disk array, network interface card, power supply unit, cooling fan, front control panel.

LED indicators

Front LEDs show power, HDD status, network link and fault alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Continuous monitoring detects HDD failure, RAID degradation, network disconnection and fan fault, logs events locally.

Programming software

Bosch BRS Viewer, used for live view, video playback and system configuration.

Installation

Mount the unit into standard server rack and secure rack ears.

Connect Ethernet network cable and power cord, configure camera IP and recording schedule in BRS software, verify RAID health status.
