Products Description

VMIC VMIVME-7750-74 Single Board Computer

Module Feature

VMIC VMIVME-7750-74 is a single-slot 6U VMEbus Rev C.1 single board computer based on Intel Pentium III processor with 512 KB L2 cache and Intel 815E chipset, 133 MHz front side bus. It supports up to 512 MB SODIMM SDRAM, equipped with one PMC mezzanine expansion site for reflective memory or custom I/O modules. Integrated AGP VGA graphics controller, 10/100 Mbps fast Ethernet, dual 16550 compatible RS232 serial ports, dual USB ports, ATA-100 IDE storage interface, PS/2 keyboard/mouse and hardware watchdog timer. Flash BIOS supports field firmware upgrade. Passive heatsink cooling design without fan, rugged Eurocard construction with shock and vibration resistance, widely used in real-time simulation, industrial process control, aerospace test and data acquisition systems.

Working principle

The Pentium III processor executes embedded operating system and user application code. PCI-to-VME bridge provides VMEbus master and slave functions for high-speed data exchange with other VME modules inside chassis. PMC slot supports mezzanine card expansion for additional communication or I/O functions. Onboard peripherals including Ethernet, serial ports and VGA controller are mapped into CPU address space. Flash memory stores BIOS firmware for system boot; programmable watchdog timer automatically resets the board upon software lockup to enhance system reliability.

Onboard components

Intel Pentium III CPU, Intel 815E chipset, SODIMM SDRAM socket, AGP VGA video chip, 10/100 Ethernet PHY, dual UART serial controller, flash BIOS chip, watchdog logic, PMC connector, VME J1/J2 transceivers, front panel I/O connectors, status LED array.

LED indicators

Front panel LEDs for power status, CPU heartbeat, Ethernet link/activity and system fault warning.

Hardware self-diagnosis

Visual inspection of PCB, front panel ejectors and soldering joints; power-on POST self-test; memory read/write cyclic verification; VME register access test; Ethernet loopback test; serial port communication test; BIOS and watchdog function validation.

Programming software

Supports VxWorks, Linux, Windows NT/2000 embedded OS; VMIC VME device driver suite, BIOS configuration utility and board diagnostic firmware.
