Products Description

VMIC VMIVME-4120 Analog Output Board

Module Feature

VMIC VMIVME-4120 is a standard single-slot 6U VMEbus analog output board with 16 independent 12-bit digital-to-analog converter channels. Each channel can be hardware configured via on-board jumpers for voltage output or current transmitter loop output. Voltage ranges include 0~+5 V, 0~+10 V, ±2.5 V, ±5 V, ±10 V; current modes support 0~20 mA, 4~20 mA and 5~25 mA. It integrates an isolated DC-DC converter for analog power supply, or supports external analog power input. Front panel P3 connector brings out all analog field signals for convenient wiring. Onboard register and status logic supports VME A16/A24 addressing, with built-in channel fault detection and over-range protection. Rugged Eurocard construction with conformal coating option, widely used for valve control, actuator drive, pressure/flow closed-loop regulation in turbine control, semiconductor manufacturing and industrial test systems.

Working principle

VMEbus master writes digital setpoint data to each channel register of VMIVME-4120. The onboard DAC chip converts digital values into analog signals, then passes through signal conditioning and isolation circuit to generate final voltage or 4-20mA current loop signals for field actuators. Hardware jumpers select output type and range for each channel independently. VME interface logic handles address decoding, data handshake and status register feedback, allowing host CPU to read channel fault and over-range flags. Isolated power suppresses ground loop interference between chassis backplane and field sensor wiring.

Onboard components

Interface

VME J1/J2 backplane connector, front panel P3 multi-channel analog output terminal, fault status signal pins.

Diagnostic

Board not recognized: poor VME backplane contact, damaged edge connector, backplane power abnormality. Channel output offset drift: calibration aging, ground loop noise, signal conditioning circuit drift. No analog output: over-range protection triggered, broken field wiring, DAC hardware failure. VME write access timeout: incorrect address jumper setting, bus termination error.
