Products Description
VMIC VMIVME-7589 Single Board Computer

Module FeatureVMIC VMIVME-7589 is a single-slot 6U Eurocard VMEbus single board computer built around Intel Pentium MMX processor with 166 / 200 / 233 MHz speed options. It supports up to 128 MB SDRAM via 168-pin DIMM socket, equipped with 32 KB battery-backed nonvolatile SRAM for critical configuration data and 8 MB bootable flash memory on secondary IDE interface. Integrated 64-bit PCI SVGA graphics controller with 2 MB SGRAM video buffer. Onboard 10/100 Mbps fast Ethernet controller for network communication. Hardware byte swap circuit enables seamless data exchange between little-endian X86 and big-endian VME slave modules. Includes standard PC/AT peripherals, real-time clock and programmable watchdog timer for system fail-safe recovery. Front panel carries PS/2 keyboard and mouse connectors. Rugged industrial PCB construction, widely used in legacy turbine control, aerospace test and data acquisition VME chassis systems.
Working principleThe Pentium MMX CPU executes embedded operating system and user application code. PCI-to-VME bridge implements VMEbus master and slave functions for high-speed data access to other VME modules. Integrated SVGA engine handles display output; fast Ethernet controller manages network transmission. Battery-backed SRAM preserves key setup parameters after power loss. Flash memory stores boot firmware and optional application images. Watchdog timer automatically triggers hardware reset upon software lockup. Hardware byte-swap logic eliminates endian conversion overhead for cross-platform VME communication.
Onboard componentsIntel Pentium MMX CPU, 168-pin DIMM socket, PCI SVGA graphics chip, 10/100 Ethernet PHY, 32 KB battery-backed SRAM, 8 MB flash memory, flash BIOS chip, watchdog timer logic, PCI-VME bridge, VME J1/J2 transceivers, front panel I/O connectors, status LED indicators.
