Products Description

VMIC VMIOMAX-2940A Universal Analog I/O Module

Module Feature

VMIOMAX-2940A is a single-width MAX-8000 series universal analog I/O module developed by VMIC (GE Fanuc). It integrates multi-channel analog input and analog output on one single module, supports voltage and current signal modes for industrial transmitters and actuators. Adopts proprietary FieldCal™ on-board self-calibration technology, automatically compensates gain and offset drift caused by temperature variation without manual potentiometer adjustment. The module provides 1 μs high-precision time-stamp for sampled data, perfect for synchronized multi-board data capture in complex test systems. It supports hot-swap insertion and removal while MAX-8000 chassis remains powered, preventing backplane bus damage during module replacement. Front panel carries individual channel status LED and module power/fault indicators. Built-in BIT diagnostic applies precision internal reference signal to verify ADC and DAC circuit integrity; fault codes can be read from backplane register. Rugged PCB with conformal coating, shock and vibration screened for power plant cabinet environment, widely used in gas/steam turbine analog sensor collection, aerospace ground test bench and hardware-in-loop real-time simulation control chassis.

Working principle

Field analog voltage/current signals are conditioned and filtered before entering high-resolution ADC for digital conversion. For analog output channels, onboard DAC converts digital value received from MAX backplane into analog signal to drive field actuators. FieldCal calibration circuit periodically injects reference voltage to correct channel drift. High precision timer attaches 1 μs timestamp to each sampled data point. BIT mode runs closed-loop test between ADC and DAC paths to validate full analog chain performance. Backplane FPGA handles data buffering, register access and fault flag reporting to system controller.

Onboard components

MAX backplane interface FPGA,multi-channel ADC/DAC array,signal conditioning circuit,FieldCal precision reference source,1 μs timestamp timer,analog low-pass filter bank,BIT closed-loop test hardware,MAX edge backplane connector,field terminal block,channel status LED array.

LED indicators

Per-channel LED indicators for analog signal status; module LED for power supply and fault alarm.

Hardware self-diagnosis

Visual inspection of PCB,components and solder joints;board ID register readback verification;FieldCal calibration routine;BIT ADC/DAC closed-loop test;MAX backplane register communication validation.
