System compatibility
Compatibility description: EXE 610B belongs to HEIDENHAIN EXE61x interpolation family. Compatible with HEIDENHAIN incremental encoders with µApp current output. Works with Fives Giddings & Lewis PIC900 CNC system for heavy boring mill axis control.
Function
Function description: EXE 610B is interpolation and digitizing electronics manufactured by HEIDENHAIN. It amplifies and interpolates weak sinusoidal current signals from linear scales or rotary encoders, then outputs standard differential TTL pulse signals to CNC axis board. The metal housing protects internal circuits from cabinet vibration and electromagnetic noise. It is legacy encoder signal processing spare for heavy CNC boring mills.
Installation
Installation steps: Follow lockout/tagout safety procedure before installation. Cut off 5VDC power. Mount EXE610B unit on cabinet plate. Connect encoder cable to M23 input socket and TTL pulse output cable to CNC control board. Set DIP switch for interpolation multiple. Restore power, verify POWER and SIG LED indicators, run encoder diagnostic and check position pulse reading.
Interface
Interface list: M23 9-pin encoder input connector, M23 12-pin TTL output connector,5VDC power terminal,on-board POWER / SIG / FAULT LED indicators for HEIDENHAIN EXE 610B.
Diagnostic
Troubleshooting: No pulse output: Check 5VDC supply, encoder cable breakage or connector pin damage. FAULT LED lit: Low encoder signal amplitude, encoder wiring fault or contamination on encoder optical parts. Axis position jump: Improper interpolation DIP setting, electrical noise interference or internal circuit aging.
