System compatibilityX670-G2-4 VIM expansion module is exclusively designed for Extreme Networks X670-G2 series switches. It is installed in the rear expansion slot of X670-G2 chassis. It supports 40G high-speed uplink and SummitStack stacking function, compatible with 40G QSFP+ transceivers and 40G-to-10G breakout cables. Multiple X670-G2 switches can form one logical stacked system with this module.

FunctionX670-G2-4 is an optional rear expansion module for X670-G2 switches. It provides four 40G QSFP+ ports for high-speed uplink to core switches or for stacking fabric. Each port can run at native 40G or split to four independent 10G channels via breakout cable. It monitors optical module DDM data, port link status and module temperature, and triggers fault alarms when link down or overheat occurs. Widely used for data center ToR stacking and high-speed uplink expansion.

InstallationPower off the X670-G2 host switch. Insert X670-G2-4 module into rear VIM slot and fasten locking screws. Install QSFP+ transceivers or breakout cables as required. Power on the chassis, verify module recognition and port status in ExtremeXOS. Configure stacking parameters if stacking deployment needed. Confirm uplink or stacking link works normally before commissioning.
