System compatibility

VIM1-10G8X belongs to VIM1 family, designed exclusively for Summit X650 series switches. Compatible with 10G SFP+ optical transceivers, direct attach copper and active optical cables. The dedicated SummitStack ports build high-speed stack group for multiple X650 units.

Function

VIM1-10G8X is optional versatile interface module for Summit X650 switches. It provides 8×10G SFP+ uplink ports to connect to core or aggregation layer, plus two independent 40G SummitStack ports for switch stacking. The stacking ports are separated from data ports and do not consume 10G uplink resources. It supports long-distance SummitStack-V stacking up to 40km, ideal for distributed campus networks. Module delivers wire-speed 10G forwarding, supports VLAN segmentation and QoS traffic scheduling. Widely deployed for enterprise campus and data center top-of-rack network expansion.

InstallationFollow ESD protection procedure. Power off the Summit X650 switch. Remove blank panel from VIM slot, insert VIM1-10G8X and secure screws. Install SFP+ transceivers and cables. Power on switch, verify module detection via ExtremeXOS CLI. Configure uplink and stacking parameters, check port connectivity.
