System compatibility

5520-VIM-4X is dedicated VIM expansion module for ExtremeSwitching 5520 edge and aggregation switch platform. Compatible with Extreme validated 1G SFP and 10G SFP+ optical transceivers and DAC cables. Installed on front VIM slot of 5520 chassis for uplink port expansion. It works with Switch Engine / Fabric Engine OS. Widely used for enterprise campus aggregation network spare replacement.

Function

5520-VIM-4X provides four multi-rate SFP+ interfaces to expand high-speed uplink ports for 5520 series switches. It supports 1G or 10G fiber/copper uplink to core switches. The module monitors port DDM optical data, link status and module temperature, and generates fault alarms. It is applied to enterprise aggregation layer to extend 10G fiber uplink capacity.

Installation

Power off the 5520 host switch. Wear ESD anti-static wrist strap. Remove blank cover plate of VIM slot. Insert 5520-VIM-4X module fully and tighten fixing screws. Install SFP/SFP+ transceivers and cables. Power on chassis, verify module recognition and port status in ExtremeSwitching OS. Confirm uplink works normally before commissioning.
