Products Description
CROUSE-HINDS Eaton Hazardous Location Electrical Product Series Unit

Module Feature
CROUSE-HINDS is a historic hazardous-area electrical brand owned by Eaton, famous for explosion-proof and heavy-duty electrical components for explosive gas and dust hazardous zones.
Its portfolio covers explosion-proof junction boxes, conduit fittings, cable glands, control stations, push-button stations, interlock plug & receptacle, hazardous LED luminaires, sound & light alarm devices, intrinsic safety isolation modules and fieldbus interface assemblies. Cast aluminum / stainless steel housing options, available for Ex-d flameproof, Ex-e increased safety, Ex-i intrinsic safety protection types. It complies with NEC Division and IEC Zone classification, suitable for corrosive, wet, offshore and petrochemical hazardous environments. It is widely stocked as maintenance spare for refinery, chemical plant, offshore platform and gas plant field electrical installation.
Working principle
Flameproof Ex-d enclosure contains internal electric arcs and sparks; flame path cools and extinguishes explosion flame before transmitting to surrounding explosive atmosphere.
Increased safety Ex-e design limits surface temperature and fault energy to prevent ignition. Intrinsically safe Ex-i interface limits loop voltage and current to low energy level, avoiding ignition of hazardous gas. Mechanical interlock on plugs prevents plug pulling under live load. Continuous mechanical and thermal design suppress corrosion, water ingress and vibration damage.
Onboard components
Cast alloy explosion-proof housing, flame path mating surface, sealing gaskets, cable gland sealing components, contact blocks, pilot lamp assemblies, surge suppression circuits, intrinsic safety isolation barriers and stainless steel fasteners.
LED indicators
Pilot lamp versions have local status LED for power and alarm; enclosure itself has mechanical nameplate marking for protection class and hazardous area rating.
Hardware self‑diagnosis
Field devices rely on system-side intrinsic safety monitoring and loop fault detection; visual inspection for flame path damage, gasket aging, thread corrosion and seal failure during routine maintenance. Configuration and documentation management are completed by Eaton hazardous area engineering drawing tool.
Programming softwareEaton hazardous area engineering configuration tool, used for zone classification verification, cable entry selection and product specification documentation.
