Module Feature

SSW060670T2257EOIPZ belongs to WEG SSW06 digital soft starter series. Model decoding: 0670 stands for rated current 670A; T2257 means main circuit voltage 220~575V AC; EOIPZ represents built-in bypass contactor + EtherNet/IP communication interface. It adopts thyristor phase-shift voltage regulation technology, realizes ramp soft start and soft stop, effectively suppresses starting surge current and mechanical impact. Integrated bypass function cuts off thyristors after motor full-speed operation, reduces heat loss and extends service life. It supports multiple motor protection functions: overload, phase loss, phase imbalance, overheating and locked rotor protection. The EtherNet/IP port enables direct connection with PLC for remote parameter setting, running monitoring and fault uploading. Widely used for large pumps, fans, conveyors, crushers and other heavy-load three-phase asynchronous motors. This is a legacy product, mostly supplied as spare parts for on-site maintenance.

Working principle

When starting, the CPU controls the firing angle of bidirectional thyristors to gradually increase motor terminal voltage, the motor accelerates smoothly without high inrush current. After reaching full rated speed, the internal bypass contactor closes, the thyristor branch exits operation. During stopping, the voltage slowly decreases to achieve soft deceleration and avoid water hammer or mechanical shock. The communication module uploads current, voltage, thermal state and fault information to the upper control system via EtherNet/IP bus.

Onboard components

Three-phase SCR thyristor power assembly, built-in bypass contactor, current transformer sampling circuit, main control board, EtherNet/IP communication module, cooling fan, operation HMI panel, power terminal busbar.

LED indicators

Front panel LED indicators for power, run, communication and fault alarm; local HMI displays current, voltage, thermal capacity and fault code.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Power-on self-check detects phase loss, SCR fault, overcurrent, overtemperature, bypass contactor anomaly and EtherNet/IP link interruption. Fault records are stored inside the starter.

Programming software

Use WEG WPS software for parameter configuration, motor curve setting and remote diagnosis; local HMI can also modify parameters manually.

Installation

Install soft starter inside low voltage cabinet and reserve heat dissipation space. Connect three-phase incoming power and motor cables to main terminals. Wire control power and connect EtherNet/IP network cable to PLC. Set motor rated parameters, start ramp time and protection thresholds before commissioning.

Diagnostic
