Module Feature

SPM250480Y1R belongs to Eaton SPD MAX heavy-duty surge protection series. Single module design with 250kA surge capacity per phase, suitable for 277/480V three-phase wye 4-wire plus ground power system. Built-in internal circuit breaker provides isolation protection for SPD modules. NEMA4 painted metal enclosure is dust-tight and water-splash resistant for indoor and mild outdoor environments. Thermally protected MOV modules automatically disconnect upon overheating to eliminate fire hazard. Widely used for industrial main switchgear, motor control centers and large commercial power distribution panels.

Working principle

Under normal working voltage, metal oxide varistors maintain high impedance and have no influence on regular power supply. When lightning or switching high-voltage transient surge appears, MOV impedance drops instantly, diverting surge current to ground and clamping surge voltage to safe level. The built-in circuit breaker can isolate SPD module from power circuit in case of SPD failure.

Installation

Follow strict high voltage safety procedure before handling.Mount enclosure vertically on solid wall near main electrical equipment.Connect phase, neutral and ground cables to terminals, keep conductor length as short as possible. After power-up, verify LED status and perform periodic maintenance inspection.

Diagnostic
