System compatibility

XVME-400 belongs to XYCOM XVME series serial communication module.

It installs in XYCOM VME chassis and cooperates with XVME series CPU and I/O modules.

Compatible with turbine,compressor and legacy DCS control systems via VME bus.

Commonly used for power plant,oil & gas,petrochemical old equipment maintenance and spare replacement.

Function

Serial communication expansion for VME control rack.

4 independent full-duplex RS232C channels,realize data exchange with serial field instruments,terminals and controllers.

Dual Z8530 SCC chip,support asynchronous,synchronous and bit-oriented communication protocols.

Each channel integrates complete modem control signals,suitable for point-to-point serial connection.

Independent baud rate generator for every port,flexible baud rate configuration.

Support hardware interrupt when data receive/transmit complete,reduce host CPU load.

Transmit and receive serial data between field serial devices and VME main CPU over VME backplane.

Onboard self-test for serial controller,data bus and VME bus interface fault inspection.

Installation

Power off VME chassis.

Insert XVME-400 card into empty single-height VME slot,tighten front panel fixing screw.

Set base address and interrupt level via board jumpers.

Connect serial devices to front JK1 and JK2 25pin D-sub connectors.

Power on chassis,run hardware self-test.

VME CPU scans bus,identifies the board and starts serial communication.

Interface

VME P1 backplane connector,front panel JK1,JK2 25pin D-sub connectors,LED indicators:PASS,FAULT.

Feature

Single height VME 4-channel RS232C serial board,XYCOM XVME series.

Dual Z8530 SCC serial controller,multiple communication protocol support.

Each port equipped with full modem handshake signals,reliable serial transmission.

Independent programmable baud rate for each channel.

VME slave interface,easy plug-in installation.

Discontinued obsolete VME module,supply only for old production system spare replacement.

Vibration resistant PCB design,suitable for turbine control cabinet.

Diagnostic

FAULT LED on:serial controller damage or VME bus communication failure;

Cannot be identified by CPU:check VME backplane contact and base address jumper setting;

Serial no communication:check RS232 wiring,baud rate and parity configuration;

Intermittent data loss:check cable shielding and grounding status.

Product Brief

XYCOM XVME-400 is legacy VMEbus quad RS232C serial communication module.

It provides multi-channel RS232 serial data interaction for VME control rack,widely used as spare part for turbine and compressor control,petrochemical and power plant old DCS renovation.
